Estadio Santiago Bernabeu

Currently under renovations since 2019, the new Bernabeu is expected to be completed in 2022. The capacity of the stadium will be reduced to 80,242. The new stadium will have a retractable roof and state-of-the-art technology which can project images onto the entire outside surface of the stadium, as well as a 360-degree scoreboard inside the stadium. It will have a revolutionary retractable pitch system and the cost of the renovations will be 525-million euros. The new stadium will be also capable of staging concerts, conferences, and other sporting events, such as tennis or basketball.

New Camp Nou

The new renovations to Camp Nou in Barcelona will begin in June 2022. The stadium will be expanded from 99,354 to 105,000 spectators with a 900 million euros upgrade. This will make Camp Nou the only stadium in Europe with a capacity of over 100,000. With the small increase in capacity, the seating layout will also change. The stands on the third level will be newly built and the VIP ring will be built between the second and third tiers. The new Camp Nou will boast a retractable roof covered in 30,000 square meters of solar panels. This energy will be used to power the new 360-degree screen that will run around the interior of the stadium. The completion is expected in 2025.

Guangzhou Evergrande Stadium

The Guangzhou Evergrande Football Stadium will be the new stadium located in Guangzhou, China, and will be the home venue of Guangzhou FC. With a construction cost of 1.7 billion dollars and a seating capacity of 100,000 people, the stadium will become the 2nd largest football stadium in the world. It was expected to open at the end of 2022 but due to delays, the stadium will probably open in 2023.

Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium

The new stadium of Everton FC will be located on Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool. Expected to open in 2024 the construction of the ground has already started. Constructed of steel and glass, the capacity of the stadium will be 52,888. Similar to the Tottenham Stadium it is intended that there will be a 13,000-seater stand inspired by Borussia Dortmund’s Yellow Wall. The cost of the stadium will be around £500 million.

New Administrative Capital Stadium

Located in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital the stadium has been under construction since 2019 and will open in June 2023. With a capacity of 93,440, it will be the largest stadium in Egypt and the second largest in Africa. It will replace the Cairo International Stadium as the new national stadium. It will be part of a larger sports complex that has been under construction since 2015 and is being built with an eye toward Egypt’s possible bids for the Olympic Games or a World Cup.

New Milan Stadium

A new stadium in Milan named ”The Cathedral” will be the new home of AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano. It will have a capacity of 60,000. Its design was inspired by two of the most famous buildings in the city – the Duomo di Milano and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. “The Cathedral” will be ground-breaking in terms of innovation and sustainability. Surrounded by a large green area, it will be carbon neutral and LEEDcertified, thanks to the use of the most innovative materials and cutting-edge technologies.

Dalian Barracuda Bay Stadium

Located in Dalian, China, on the northern edge of Dalian Bay, the design for Dalian Barracuda Bay Stadium is inspired by its unique location. The stadium will have a capacity of 63,000 and it will cost around 290 million dollars. It will open in 2022 and will be the home of Dalian Pro.

Kai Tak Sports Park

Kai Tak Sports Park is a multi-purpose sports venue that is being built at the site of the former Kai Tak Airport in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The focal point of the Sports Park is the 50,000-seat Main Stadium, with “Pearl of the Orient” as its façade design theme. When it opens, it will become the largest stadium in Hong Kong. The stadium will have a retractable roof and it will be the home of the Hong Kong national football team and also rugby team. The cost of the project is 3.8 billion dollars. It is expected to open in 2023.

Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium

The Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium or The Boat will be a new cricket stadium located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It will have a capacity of 70,000 and will serve as the home tenant of Dhaka Dynamites and the Bangladesh national cricket team. The cost of the project is 130 million dollars which will make it the most expensive cricket stadium in Asia. Other than a cricket stadium, the complex will also have indoor sports and water sports facilities. It will open in December 2022. 

ES CON Field Hokkaido

Scheduled to open in March 2023, the ES CON Field Hokkaido will be the new baseball stadium located in Kitahiroshima, Japan. It will be the new home of Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. Designed by HKS Architects, the ballpark will have a retractable roof and a capacity of 35,000. The area immediately surrounding the stadium will be developed into Hokkaido Ballpark F Village, containing commercial facilities and restaurants for Fighters fans.
