Emirates Stadium: Where to Eat aand Drink

Matchdays at the Emirates Stadium are not just about the football. The surrounding area of Holloway, Highbury and Islington offers a wide range of pubs, cafés and restaurants for fans before and after games. Whether you want a quick pint, a family meal, or somewhere lively with fellow Arsenal supporters, the neighbourhood has plenty of options within walking distance.

Traditional Matchday Pubs

For many fans, a pre-match pint is part of the ritual. Several long-established pubs near the stadium are known for their atmosphere and proximity to the ground.

  • The Tollington Arms (Hornsey Road) – A popular choice for home supporters, with TV screens and a buzz on matchdays.
  • The Gunners Pub (Blackstock Road) – Covered in Arsenal memorabilia, this is a favourite for die-hard fans.
  • The Twelve Pins (Seven Sisters Road) – A spacious pub close to Finsbury Park Station, often packed before big games.

These pubs get crowded quickly, so arriving early is advisable.

Casual Dining Options

If you are looking for something to eat before or after the match, the area offers a mix of quick bites and sit-down meals.

  • Piebury Corner – Famous for its pies named after Arsenal legends, it has become a matchday institution.
  • The Coronet – A converted cinema now run by Wetherspoons, offering affordable pub food and plenty of seating.
  • The Faltering Fullback – A short walk towards Finsbury Park, known for its eclectic décor, Thai food, and beer garden.

International Flavours

Islington is one of London’s most diverse areas, and that is reflected in the food options near the Emirates.

  • Yildiz (Holloway Road) – A Turkish grill serving mixed platters and meze, ideal for groups.
  • Xi’an Impression (opposite the Emirates) – Small but highly rated, known for hand-pulled noodles and authentic Chinese dishes.
  • Patty & Bun (Liverpool Road) – A trendy burger spot for those who want something quick but filling.

Family Friendly Choices

Not every fan is looking for a noisy pre-match drink. Families may prefer a more relaxed environment.

  • The Junction Market (Archway) – A food hall with varied options, from pizza to street food.
  • Zia Lucia (Holloway Road) – Italian restaurant with wood-fired pizzas and a warm atmosphere.
  • Union Chapel Café – Tucked inside the famous Islington venue, offering light bites and a quieter setting.

On the Go

For fans short on time, there are plenty of quick options. Holloway Road and Highbury Corner are lined with takeaways, from fish and chips to kebab shops. Popular chains like Pret, Nando’s and Five Guys are also within a ten-minute walk.

TFC Takeaway

The Emirates Stadium is well served by local pubs, cafés and restaurants, making matchdays more than just ninety minutes of football. From traditional Arsenal haunts like The Gunners Pub to international food spots such as Xi’an Impression, the area caters to every taste. Arriving early and exploring the surrounding streets ensures you can enjoy the full experience before heading into the ground.
