The King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh is set to undergo a transformative reconstruction for the highly anticipated 2027 Asian Cup. Currently boasting a capacity of 58,000 spectators, this iconic stadium is on the cusp of a monumental evolution that will propel it to become one of the biggest football stadiums in the Gulf states, accommodating an impressive 80,000 fans.

As part of this ambitious reconstruction, the stadium’s current athletics track surrounding the pitch will make way for a lowered pitch, creating room for an additional lower tier of stands. This strategic enhancement not only addresses the demand for more seats but also reshapes the very structure of the stadium, promising an unparalleled spectator experience.

Adding a futuristic dimension to the experience will be the installation of a 360º video board encircling the front edge of the roof. This immersive digital feature, however, requires the fortification of the stadium’s infrastructure, leading to the introduction of new shading structures. Crafted from tensile membranes and supported by elegant steel structures, these additions not only reinforce the stadium but also enhance its aesthetic allure, spanning the east concourse and encircling the entire venue. The stadium’s grand vision extends to a multifaceted sports complex, including a multi-purpose sports hall, five-side football pitches, two FIFA training pitches, a theater, an exhibition space, a football academy, and futsal facilities.
