Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are the newly promoted teams. Manchester City are the two-time defending champions, having won both the 2020-21 season and 2021-22 season. As of this season, clubs will be able to make five rather than three substitutions. There will also be a mid-season break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
