Stadium Information

Estadio Tamaulipas is a large football stadium serving the cities of Tampico, Ciudad Madero and Altamira in the state of Tamaulipas. Opened in 1966, the stadium was built to provide the region with a venue capable of hosting top-level football and major public events.

Its broad oval bowl and multi-tiered seating reflect mid-twentieth-century stadium design, prioritising capacity and versatility. With room for around nineteen thousand spectators, the stadium uses a natural grass surface.

The stadium has historically been associated with Tampico Madero and has hosted periods of top-flight football, alongside international fixtures and large-scale events. Matchdays are shaped by regional pride rather than sheer intensity, with crowd noise building steadily during competitive fixtures. While less enclosed than modern stadiums, the scale of the bowl gives important matches a sense of occasion.

Estadio Tamaulipas is located near major road routes linking the three cities it serves and is accessible by local bus services. Parking is available in surrounding areas and designated lots. Accessibility features include step-free access points, designated seating areas and assistance services. As one of northeastern Mexico’s traditional football venues, Estadio Tamaulipas remains a significant regional landmark.
