Stadium Information

Rogers Arena is a major indoor arena in downtown Vancouver and one of Canada’s most prominent hockey venues. Opened in 1995 as General Motors Place, the arena was built to bring the NHL back to Vancouver and now serves as the home of the Vancouver Canucks.

Its steep seating bowl and enclosed design place spectators close to the ice, creating strong sightlines and an atmosphere that can become intense during key moments. With a hockey capacity of around eighteen thousand, the arena balances scale with intimacy. Game nights at Rogers Arena are shaped by anticipation and noise, particularly during playoff runs and rivalry matchups. The crowd response builds quickly due to the compact design, while modern scoreboards and lighting add to the sense of occasion.

Beyond hockey, the arena regularly hosts major concerts, basketball exhibitions and international events, adapting smoothly between configurations. The arena is exceptionally well connected via Vancouver’s public transport network, including Stadium–Chinatown and Granville SkyTrain stations, as well as bus routes serving downtown.

Parking is available in nearby garages rather than large on-site lots. Accessibility features include step-free access throughout, lifts, wheelchair seating platforms, adapted toilets and assistance services. Located next to BC Place and the city’s entertainment district, Rogers Arena is a central fixture of Vancouver’s sporting and cultural landscape.
