Stadium Information

Varsity Stadium is a historic outdoor stadium located on the campus of the University of Toronto, directly opposite the Royal Ontario Museum. Opened in 1898 and completely rebuilt in 2007, the stadium combines a central urban location with a modern, compact design.

The current venue features a horseshoe-shaped bowl with seating close to the pitch, prioritising sightlines and atmosphere over sheer scale. With a capacity of around five thousand, it is best suited to university sport and intimate professional fixtures. Matchdays at Varsity Stadium have a collegiate, city-centre feel. As the long-time home of the Toronto Varsity Blues, the ground regularly hosts Canadian university football, soccer and athletics.

It has also been used for professional soccer and international youth matches, benefiting from its high-quality playing surface and excellent accessibility. Crowd noise is modest but concentrated, with the enclosed seating helping create a focused atmosphere. The stadium is exceptionally well connected by Toronto’s public transport network, with Museum and
St. George subway stations within a short walk. Parking is limited, encouraging public transport use.

Accessibility features include step-free access points, wheelchair seating platforms, adapted toilets and assistance services. Surrounded by university buildings, museums and downtown streets, Varsity Stadium represents a blend of tradition, education and modern urban sport in the heart of Toronto.
