Al-Nassr is a club from Saudi Arabia and is one of the biggest clubs of the country, winning 27 honours in all competitions. Domestically winning 9 Saudi Pro League titles, 6 King’s Cups and many other accolades makes Al-Nassr one of the most successful clubs in the Saudi Arabian region. Recently, the Portuguese forward and one of the best player of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo joined them and so in this article we will cover everything you need to know about Al-Nassr FC.

History

Al-Nassr was established in 1955 by Zeid Al-Ja’ba. Till the 60s, the club was an amateur level club and after registration they started playing in the 2nd division of the league. Their quick success brought them up in the 1st division in 1963. The era from 1970-80 was one of the most successful eras for the club as they won 4 Saudi Premier League titles, 3 Federation Cups, 3 Crown Price & again 3 King’s Cups, this major achievement was made possible with a help of three players, Majed Abdullah, Fahd Al-Herafy and Mohaisn Al-Jam’aan. Their trio is also called “Saudi Golden Trio” and it won’t be exaggeration to say that the team’s success was built on these three pillars. The club also enjoyed the 90s era with more success as they won 2 more league titles and other accolades too. After these years, the Golden Trio was getting old and after they hung up their boots, Al-Nassr went through some major setbacks from 2003-07 but this didn’t long more as a major overhaul of whole club resulted in a great success and they won the Federation Cup against city rivals, Al-Hilal. This was considered as a major comeback from the club. From then on, Al-Nassr enjoyed some success and overall they have established themselves as the face of the league along with few other names.
