Construction and cost

The SoFi Stadium’s construction started on November 17, 2016 and was opened 4 years later in 2020 on September 8. The construction cost of this stadium is $5 Billion.

Roof safety

The roof of the stadium doesn’t touch the walls. This was done to ensure the safety of the stadium during earthquakes. The roof is held by 37 massive earthquake-resistant columns. The roof is designed in a way that its three openings let the cool breeze pass through which also helps to keep the stadium environment cool.

The famous Infinity Screen

This stadium is well known for its Infinity Screen that is hung in the centre of the stadium. This screen is 4K, 70K square feet and weighs around 2.2 million pounds. This weight also helps the roof of the stadium in extreme weather conditions by preventing the stadium’s roof to get sailed by the wind.

100-metres deep

To keep the height of the stadium below FFA restricted areas, the crew members have to dig deep in the ground, thus making the field 100 meters below ground.

A beautfiul moat

A moat surrounds the stadium. This moat is called seismic moat and is 100-feet deep and 12-feet wide. This was built to keep the stadium safe during earthquakes.

Structure to keep the temperature down

The city in which SoFi Stadium is built is also a very hot area in summers. Thus, the stadium was designed in such a way that the temperature of the stadiums remains cool. The panels in the roof can be closed and open depending on the weather conditions.

LED Lights

This stadium is also popular for the 27,000 LED lights installed on the roof of the stadium to display various stats and facts related to the game. This LED screen can be seen from the sky or by flight attendants who happen to fly over this stadium.

Almost every stadium feature bench seating which is quite a drag especially when you have to sit for the whole game, but not anymore as the SoFi stadium has a chair form factor that is comfortable and has really great leg space and also a space where you can put your drinks.
