Rungrado 1st of May Stadium

Located in Pyongyang the capital of North Korea, the Rungrado 1st of May Stadium is not only the largest stadium in Asia but is also the largest stadium in the world with a seating capacity of 150,000. The stadium opened on 1 May 1989 and it is used for football games, athletics events, and most often for the mass games. It is also the home stadium of the North Korean national football team.

AFRICA

FNB Stadium

Located in South Africa’s largest city Johannesburg, the FNB stadium has a capacity of 94,736. Also known as Soccer City, the stadium opened in 1989 and was renovated before the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It is the home of Kaizer Chiefs Football Club and the South African national football and rugby union teams.

NORTH AMERICA

Michigan Stadium

Located in the United States in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the campus of the University of Michigan, the Michigan Stadium is the largest stadium in the Western Hemisphere with a capacity of 107,601 but has hosted crowds in excess of 115,000 in the past. Nicknamed “The Big House”, the stadium opened on 1 October 1927, and is the home of the Michigan Wolverines football team.

Estadio Monumental

Located in Lima the capital of Peru, the Estadio Monumental has a capacity of 80,093. It is the home stadium of Club Universitario de Deportes. Estadio Monumental opened on 2 July 2000.

Camp Nou

Located in Barcelona the capital of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. Opened on 24 September 1957, Camp Nou is the home stadium of FC Barcelona. It has a capacity of 99,354, which will be increased with the expansion of the stadium to 105,000 by the year 2025.

AUSTRALIA

Melbourne Cricket Ground

Located in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia, the Melbourne Cricket Ground has a capacity of 100,024 and is the largest stadium in the Southern Hemisphere. Opened in 1853, the MCG has undergone numerous renovations through the years. It is used mostly for Australian football and cricket and is the home of Australian rules football teams Collingwood, Hawthorn, Melbourne and Richmond, and cricket teams Victoria, Melbourne Stars and Australia national cricket team.
