Future MLS Stadiums

MIAMI FREEDOM PARKĀ

The new home of Inter Miami CF will be built on the site of the Melreese golf course, close to Miami International Airport. The club currently plays at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Miami Freedom Park will be a state-of-the-art venue equipped with all the modern facilities expected of a world-class stadium. The whole project also includes a 58-acre park, a 750-room hotel, and a 1 million-square-foot commercial complex that will feature offices, retail stores, and entertainment. The new 25,000 soccer-specific stadium has been designed by American architectural firms Arquitectonica and HOK. The north stand will feature a steep, single-tiered grandstand to amplify the vocal support of passionate fans, covered by a roof designed to enhance their chants. The stadium’s exterior will be distinctively wrapped with a lightweight, translucent roof. The opening of the stadium is scheduled for 2025.

New York City FC currently plays at Yankee Stadium, a baseball stadium in the Bronx, but soon they will move to new state-of-the-art soccer specific stadium in Willets Point, Queens. Designed by HOK, the stadium will have a capacity of 25,000 and will be a part of larger Willets Point Project development, which includes 2,500 housing units, a school, a hotel, retail and commercial space, and 40,000 square feet of public open space. The stadium will be the first fully electric stadium in MLS. Sustainability efforts include an array of solar panels on the roof, locally sourced materials, and a water harvesting system below the playing surface to capture rainwater for irrigation. The main entrance to the stadium, called ‘The Cube’, will be a seven-story entryway bordered on top and both sides by three massive screens. It will feature single-tier “Kop” style stands on three sides, including designated safe standing areas, and a large, four-tier executive stand on the other. The construction cost of the stadium is 780 million dollars and opening is planned for 2027.
