The Besta deild karla is the top football division in Iceland. There are 12 teams competing in the league. At the end of the season the champions qualify for the Champions League, 2nd and 3rd place to Europa Conference League. The bottom two sides are relegated to 1. deild karla. Fram and ÍBV are newly promoted teams. Víkingur are defending champions.
