Asia is the largest most populous continent on Earth and many great footballers are coming from Asia. There are many great old and new modern stadiums in Asia. Today we will talk about the beautiful and alluring stadiums of Asia.

Beijing National Stadium

Also known as the Bird’s Nest, Beijing National Stadium opened on 28 June 2008 and was designed for use throughout the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Beijing, China. It was used again in the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics. The design of the stadium originated from the study of Chinese ceramics, implemented steel beams to hide supports for the retractable roof; giving the stadium the appearance of a bird’s nest. It has a current capacity of 80,000.

Narendra Modi Stadium

Narendra Modi Stadium is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The stadium has a capacity of 132,000 which makes it the largest cricket stadium in the world. It is named after the current Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. It was formerly known as Motera Cricket Stadium. The stadium was built in 1983 and renovated for the first time in 2006. It was closed and demolished in 2015 before being completely rebuilt by February 2020, with an estimated cost of 100 million dollars. The stadium is owned by the Gujarat Cricket Association and is a venue for Test, ODI, T20I and Indian Premier League cricket matches. It is the home of Gujarat Titans, Gujarat cricket team and Indian Cricket Team.

Jakarta International Stadium

The newest stadium on this list, the Jakarta International stadium is located in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta. The stadium opened on 13 April 2022 and is the biggest stadium in Indonesia with a capacity of 82,000. It has a retractable roof and is the second-largest retractable-roof stadium by capacity in the world. It is the home stadium of Persija Jakarta and the occasional home of the Indonesia national football team.

King Fahd International Stadium

The King Fahd Stadium also nicknamed “Pearl of Stadiums” or simply “the Pearl”, is a multi-purpose stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is currently used mostly for football and it also has athletics facilities. The stadium’s roof shades over 67,000 seats. The huge umbrella keeps the sun off the seats and concourse slabs, providing shade and comfort in the hot desert climate. The stadium also has a royal balcony. It opened in 1987 and is the home stadium of Al-Hilal and Al-Shabab football clubs.

Japan National Stadium

Officially named the National Stadium. It is located in Tokyo, Japan and it opened on 21 December 2019 on the site of the old National Stadium. It was the main venue for the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. The stadium is unique in that it uses wood as a key structural component. Transparent solar panels are installed on part of the roof, and rainwater is collected in underground cisterns and utilized to irrigate the arena turf as well as the various plants on the top storey promenade. It has a maximum capacity of 80,000 and it is the home of the Japan national rugby team.

Morodok Techo National Stadium

The Morodok Techo National Stadium is a football and athletics stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It is the main venue of the larger Morodok Techo National Sports Complex. The stadium has a capacity of 60,000 and is the home of the Cambodian national football team. It opened in August 2021 and was designed to resemble a sailing ship and is a symbol of Cambodia-China relations. The whole stadium’s design is based on the Rumduol flower.



Singapore National Stadium

National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kallang, Singapore. It opened in 2014 and was constructed on the site of the former National Stadium. It is the centerpiece of the Singapore Sports Hub. It is one of the largest domed structures in the world. It has a naturally-ventilated design and a retractable roof. It has configurations for football, rugby, athletics, and cricket. The stadium has a capacity of 55,000 and it is the home of the Singapore national football team and Singapore national cricket team.

Changlimithang Stadium

Located in Thimphu, Bhutan, the Changlimithang Stadium is surrounded by a beautiful landscape. It is the national stadium of Bhutan and is the home of the Bhutan national football team and several Thimphu-based football clubs. The stadium also regularly plays host to archery tournaments, minifootball and volleyball matches. It opened in 1974 and has a capacity of 45,000. The beautiful royal pavilion serves as one of the stands. It is one of the highest stadiums in the world located 2,300 meters or 7,500 feet above sea level.

Bukit Jalil National Stadium

Located in the National Sports Complex in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Bukit Jalil National Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium and the home of the Malaysian national football team. It is the biggest stadium in Southeast Asia with a capacity of 87,411. The stadium opened in 1998. A membrane structure is used for the roof, and most of the materials used were reinforced concrete.

Seoul World Cup Stadium

The Seoul World Cup Stadium, also known as Sangam Stadium, is a football stadium located in Seoul, South Korea. It was built for the 2002 FIFA World Cup and it opened in 2001. It has a capacity of 66,704, which makes it the 2nd largest stadium in South Korea. It is the home stadium of FC Seoul. The roof has a shape of a traditional Korean kite and it looks as if it is made out of hanji, the traditional Korean paper. At night, illuminations bathe the stadium in a warm, soft light, much like the light shining through the paper of a traditional Korean lamp.
