It is the only waterfront venue with a spectacular view of the Doha skyline, it is built on a 450,000-square-meter waterfront site on an artificial promontory. It is modular in design and incorporates 974 recycled shipping containers as a tribute to the site’s industrial history as well as the international dialing code for Qatar. Because of the stadium’s clever modular design, fewer standard building materials were required than in traditional stadium development, lowering construction costs. Stadium 974 hosted five matches during the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.
