King Khalid University Stadium is a currently operational university stadium. Over the past two years, it has averaged an attendance of approximately 22,000 for various events. In anticipation of the FIFA World Cup 2034, the stadium will undergo a temporary expansion to increase its capacity to over 45,000 spectators. In addition to expanding capacity, the refurbishment project will prioritize modernizing the stadium’s infrastructure while preserving its historical significance. While many of the modifications will be temporary, key improvements will include a permanent new west stand and an upgraded technological infrastructure. The surrounding precinct will undergo enhancements for the duration of the Competition. These will include additional amenities to accommodate the anticipated increase in foot traffic, ensuring an efficient, vibrant, and welcoming environment for all attendees. King Khalid University Stadium is strategically located southeast of Abha City within the university campus. The Dalaghan Park nature reserve, accessible by foot, lies north of the stadium. Furthermore, the campus boasts additional sporting facilities such as a sports hall, swimming pool, and basketball courts, all conveniently located near the stadium.

Following the FIFA World Cup 2034, King Khalid University Stadium will serve as the permanent home for a professional football club. Additionally, the university and the broader community will continue to have access to the venue for various purposes, including sporting events, community development programs, and summer training facilities.
