Oceaniums

Oceaniums, stadiums that float on water, a new revolutionary concept for stadiums of the future.

Designed by Vincent Callebaut Architectures, who propose that rather than always constructing new stadiums for each new World Cup and Olympic Games, we build cultural and sports hubs intended for nomadism at sea.

Half boats, half stadiums, the Oceaniums would navigate by using solar radiation, the wind, as well as the cold ocean currents of Labrador and the warm Gulf Stream.

The design is inspired by biomimicry – the practice of taking inspiration from nature to solve human problems. In this case, the Oceaniums are designed to be floating, sustainable, and fully self-sufficient.

The Oceaniums are intended to be a new generation of stadiums that can adapt to the changing needs of their surroundings. They are designed to be modular, so they can be easily assembled and disassembled as needed. This makes them perfect for hosting major sporting events, concerts and even festivals.

One of the most impressive features of the Oceaniums is their sustainability. They are designed to be powered by renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines. They also have a closed-loop water system, which means that they can recycle and reuse their own water.

They are also designed to be aesthetically pleasing and blend seamlessly into their surroundings. They are shaped like giant seashells, with a curving, organic form that resembles the natural beauty of the ocean.

The Oceaniums also have a unique feature called a “bioclimatic skin,” which is a layer of plants and vegetation that covers the exterior of the stadium. This skin helps to regulate the temperature inside the stadium and provide natural ventilation. It also helps to absorb CO2 and produce oxygen, making the Oceaniums a true green building.

But the benefits of the Oceaniums go beyond just their environmental impact. These stadiums also have the potential to provide a unique and memorable experience for attendees. Imagine watching a concert or sporting event in a stadium that feels like it is floating on the water. The combination of the stunning design and the beautiful setting would make for a truly unforgettable experience.

So in this nomadic vision it is no longer the supporters who travel to obsolete stadiums but sustainable and ecological stadiums that go to the supporters.
