Selhurst Park, home of Crystal Palace Football Club, is one of the most distinctive grounds in London. Tucked into a residential part of South London, the stadium has been the home of the Eagles since 1924 and is known for its vocal atmosphere. If you are visiting for the first time, planning your journey in advance makes a big difference.
By Train
The most common way to reach Selhurst Park is by train, as there are several stations within walking distance of the ground.
- Selhurst Station: around a 10 minute walk from the stadium. Trains run regularly from London Victoria, Clapham Junction, and Milton Keynes.
- Norwood Junction: 15 minutes on foot. This station has good links from London Bridge, East Croydon, and Gatwick Airport.
- Thornton Heath: also about 15 minutes’ walk. Services come from London Victoria and Clapham Junction.
On matchdays, trains can be crowded, so it is worth arriving earlier to avoid a rush.
By Underground and Tram
There is no Underground station directly by the stadium. The nearest option is to take the Northern Line to Balham, then change for an overground service to Selhurst, Norwood Junction, or Thornton Heath.
The London Tramlink also stops at West Croydon, from which you can catch a short train ride or bus to the stadium.
By Bus
Several London bus routes pass near Selhurst Park. Popular options include the 468 and X68 from central London, and local services like the 75, 157, 196, 312, and 410. Most buses stop within a 5–10 minute walk of the ground.
By Car
Driving to Selhurst Park is not recommended for most visitors. The streets around the ground are residential, with limited parking and matchday restrictions. If you must drive, parking further away in Croydon and taking public transport for the last part of the journey is a better choice.
Accessibility
Selhurst Park has facilities for disabled supporters and accessible seating. Norwood Junction is usually the most convenient station for step-free access, though checking in advance with National Rail is sensible to confirm lift availability.
TFC Matchday Tips
- Allow extra time: the area becomes very busy close to kick-off.
- Plan for queues at stations after the game. Trains often operate with crowd control measures.
- Local pubs and food outlets fill quickly, so arrive early if you want to enjoy them before heading in.
- If it is a late kick-off, double check last train times back into central London.
