How to Get to Emirates Stadium: Tube, Bus and Parking Tips

Matt Tait August 8, 2025
Emirates Stadium

Getting to Emirates Stadium, the home of Arsenal FC, is generally straightforward thanks to its well-connected location in North London. Whether you’re arriving by Tube, bus, or car, planning ahead is essential to avoid delays and enjoy a smoother matchday experience.

Taking the Tube to Emirates Stadium

The London Underground is the most popular and efficient way to reach the stadium.

Arsenal Station (Piccadilly Line)
Located just a few minutes’ walk from the ground, Arsenal Station is the most direct option. However, it is extremely busy on matchdays, and post-match queues can be long.

Holloway Road Station (Piccadilly Line)
Also nearby, but it operates as exit-only before and after matches. It can be a good alternative for arriving but not for departing.

Finsbury Park Station (Victoria and Piccadilly Lines, plus National Rail)
A 10-12 minute walk from the stadium. This station handles large crowds better and is often a more efficient choice, particularly after the match.

Highbury & Islington Station (Victoria Line and Overground)
About 10-15 minutes on foot. This is another useful option if you want to avoid the main crowds.

Bus Routes to the Stadium

Several London bus routes serve the area around Emirates Stadium. These include:

  • Routes 4, 19, 29, 43, 91, 153, 236, 253, 254, 259, 263, 271, 393
These buses stop at or near Holloway Road, Blackstock Road, or Highbury Corner, all within walking distance of the ground.

Keep in mind that buses may be slower due to road closures and traffic around the stadium on matchdays.

Driving and Parking

Driving to Emirates Stadium is strongly discouraged. The area falls within a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) on matchdays, and street parking is heavily restricted.

No Official Parking at the Stadium
There are no public parking facilities at Emirates. Most surrounding streets enforce residential-only parking on matchdays, and parking fines are actively issued.

Nearby Car Parks (Limited Availability)
If you must drive, your best option is to use a car park further out and complete the journey by Tube or Overground. Options include:

  • Park and Ride facilities on the outskirts of London
  • Car parks near Finsbury Park or Highbury & Islington
These can still fill up quickly on matchdays, so booking in advance is recommended.

Accessibility and Step-Free Access

  • Arsenal Station has no step-free access
  • Finsbury Park and Highbury & Islington have partial step-free routes but may involve ramps or manual boarding ramps
  • Contact Arsenal’s disability liaison team in advance if you require assistance, as the club offers a dedicated shuttle service on matchdays for supporters with mobility needs

TFC Takeaway

  • Arrive at least an hour before kick-off to navigate crowds and security checks.
  • After the match, consider walking to a slightly further station to avoid the main crush.
  • Always check live updates on the TfL website or app, especially during weekends or strike periods.

Emirates Stadium is one of the best-connected football grounds in the country. With a bit of planning, you can avoid the worst of the congestion and make the most of your visit to North London.
