First division football comes to Durango through Acaxees Futbol Club, in the nascent Mexican Football League.

The stadium is planted on Federal Highway 40, Mazatlán – Matamoros, in front of the Cerro del Mercado, to the northeast of the capital of Durango. On an area of more than 30 hectares, the stadium is the arrowhead of a complex that will include a sports club, sports university, hotel, shopping center and a performance arena.

The stadium is designed to house 25 thousand fans, who regardless of the place can appreciate the football show, it has 44 boxes for 12 people, an interior esplanade that surrounds the entire field, commercial spaces and universal accessibility, so that nobody is left outside.

After much analysis, the architect Carlos Chávez identified the best space to develop the project, a small hill at the foot of the road where the stadium will be built, looking for the fan to have a pleasant experience from the moment he approaches the colossus, the roof is sloping being higher in the west and descending towards the east, it has an imposing entrance that when crossing the threshold the senses will be on the surface. The entire facade around the stadium works as a screen by coloring it with LED lighting.

From the beginning of the project, this stadium seeks LEED v4 certification, the most widely used green building certification system in the world, in the impact categories: Integrated process, Location and transport, Sustainable sites, Water efficiency, Energy and atmosphere, Materials and resources, Indoor air quality, Regional priority and Innovation in design.

Acaxees is the name that the team adopted, which it carries with pride and with great responsibility, since the Acaxees were a group of bellicose native Indians who inhabited the northwest of Durango and who resisted the Spanish in that distant year of 1601. Thus saving the honor of these Durango ancestors, the players will give up all their effort in each game to stay with the victory. While the fans support their team making the pressure felt on the rivals in turn.

This stadium seeks to be the headquarters of the ConIFA (Confederation of Independent Football Associations) World Cup
