Allianz Arena Seating Plan Explained: Blocks, Tiers and Tips

The Allianz Arena in Munich is one of the most distinctive stadiums in world football. Home to FC Bayern Munich, its iconic exterior lights up in red, white or blue depending on the match being played. Inside, the stadium is a masterclass in fan-focused design. This guide breaks down the seating layout by blocks and tiers and offers tips for the best matchday experience.

Stadium Layout Overview

The Allianz Arena is divided into three main tiers: Lower, Middle and Upper. Each tier wraps around the entire pitch, forming a continuous bowl. The seating blocks are numbered and follow a clockwise direction, starting from the main stand (West).

  • Lower Tier (Blocks 101–132): Closest to the pitch. Excellent for atmosphere and proximity to the players.
  • Middle Tier (Blocks 201–232): Includes business seats and premium areas. Offers a balance between view and comfort.
  • Upper Tier (Blocks 301–348): Highest elevation. Gives a wide-angle view of the entire pitch.

Block Sections and Sides

Each stand offers a different perspective:

  • West Stand (Main Stand): Home to the VIP sections, media area and team benches. Blocks 101–110 (Lower), 201–210 (Middle), and 301–310 (Upper).
  • East Stand: Opposite the Main Stand. Offers excellent views of the benches and technical area. Blocks 121–132 (Lower), 221–232 (Middle), 341–348 (Upper).
  • North Stand: Traditionally where some of the away fans are housed. Blocks 109–117 and their corresponding tiers.
  • South Stand (Südtribüne): The heart of Bayern’s most vocal supporters. This is the most atmospheric section, particularly in Blocks 109–117 (Lower).

Best Seats for Different Experiences

  • For Atmosphere: The South Stand lower tier is unmatched. Expect noise, chants and flags.
  • For Views: Middle tier, especially between blocks 220 and 225, offers a central perspective with good elevation.
  • For Families: The East and West stands, particularly middle-tier seats away from the ultras, provide a calmer setting.
  • For Away Fans: Usually housed in the north-east corner of the stadium in Blocks 109–111 and 309–311.

Accessibility and Facilities

  • The stadium includes designated areas for disabled fans in the Lower Tier, with lifts and ramp access.
  • Food kiosks and toilets are evenly distributed, though queues are common during half-time.
  • The entire stadium is cashless. Payments are made via the ArenaCard or contactless options.

Tips for Visiting

  • Arrive early: Security checks are thorough, and the stadium fills up quickly.
  • Public transport: U6 metro line to Fröttmaning is the most efficient way in and out.
  • Photographs: The best pre-match photo ops are from the upper tiers or outside the South-East corner.
  • Standing areas: For Bundesliga games, parts of the South Stand convert to safe-standing zones.

TFC Stadiums takeaway

The Allianz Arena was built with both function and spectacle in mind. Whether you want to experience the roar of the Südkurve or enjoy a high vantage point for tactical watching, the seating plan caters to every kind of supporter. Planning where to sit can shape your entire matchday, so knowing the blocks and tiers makes all the difference.
