Finding the Perfect View at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona

Matt Tait November 1, 2025 3 minutes read
Stadio Diego Armando Maradona seating guide

There are few football experiences quite like a night in Naples. The Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, set in the Fuorigrotta district, is not just a stadium. It is a shrine to both the club and the city’s most beloved son. Every match is theatre, complete with chants, fireworks, and moments of raw emotion that make the hairs on your arms stand up. But with so much passion packed into its concrete bowl, where exactly should you sit to get the best experience?

The Stadium Layout

The Stadio Maradona is divided into four main areas:

  • Curva A and Curva B – Behind each goal, home to the most passionate ultras.
  • Distinti – The side stands that offer a good mix of view and atmosphere.
  • Tribuna Nisida and Tribuna Posillipo – The main and opposite stands, where you’ll find the best overall views and most comfortable seating.

Capacity sits at around 54,000 after its renovation for Euro 2020, with improved seating, lighting, and accessibility.

Best for Atmosphere: Curva B

If you want the raw Napoli experience, Curva B is where it happens. This is the heartbeat of the stadium, a wall of blue flags, drums, and unfiltered passion. The ultras stand, sing, and gesture for 90 minutes straight, living every kick as if it were their own. It is not for the faint-hearted, but it’s unforgettable.

Pros: unmatched atmosphere, iconic view of fan choreography.
Cons: no allocated seating, limited visibility for tactical play, constant noise (and smoke).

Best for View: Tribuna Posillipo

For pure football appreciation, the Tribuna Posillipo along the west side is the place to be. Elevated, covered, and central, it provides the best vantage point of the pitch. The players, tactics, and even the Mediterranean light across the stands are all on show here.

Pros: superb central view, covered seats, more comfort.
Cons: pricier tickets, calmer atmosphere compared to the Curva.

Best for Value: Distinti

The Distinti sections strike a great balance between view and cost. These side stands are ideal if you want to soak in the energy of the stadium without being engulfed in the Curva chaos. You still feel part of the noise, but you can actually see what’s going on.

Pros: good view, strong atmosphere, reasonable pricing.
Cons: seats can be exposed to the weather, especially in summer.

Best for Families: Tribuna Nisida

The Tribuna Nisida, opposite the Posillipo, is the more relaxed side of the stadium. Families and casual fans often sit here, and while it lacks the ferocity of the Curva, it offers a safer and more comfortable setting. You can still feel the pulse of the game without fearing a stray flare.

Pros: family-friendly, decent view, calmer crowd.
Cons: less chanting, can feel a little subdued during big matches.

Insider Tips

  • Arrive early: Naples traffic and local enthusiasm mean queues can build fast.
  • Bring cash: Not every vendor accepts cards.
  • Sit high up: The higher rows of the Posillipo and Distinti sections give a far better tactical view.
  • Night games are magical: The floodlights and skyline make the whole place feel electric.

The Verdict

  • For pure passion, choose Curva B.
  • For clarity and comfort, go Tribuna Posillipo.
  • For balance and value, the Distinti win every time.

Every seat at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona tells a different story. Whether you want to live every shout and song or analyse every pass, there’s a spot in this stadium that will make you fall in love with Neapolitan football all over again.
